Topeak Trunk Bag

As I am doing this trip unsupported I will be taking only the bare essentials.  All of my kit has to fit into one small rack bag and of course weight is a big consideration in deciding what to take.  The picture shows the bag that I took.  Click on it for more information.  This is the rack that attaches to the frame.

Because I am spending a night at my university halls of residence in Preston (after the 6th day of cycling) I will be able to leave maps that I have finished with there.  I will also be able to give everything a proper wash, which means I can get away with carrying less clothing (without smelling too much).  I also have the added bonus of being able to sleep in my own bed for a night.

CLOTHING

-  2 x cycling shorts
    -  2 x cycling jerseys
    -  2 x socks
    -  Arm warmers
    -  Leg Warmers
    -  Cycling shoes
    -  Flip Flops (lighter and more compact than trainers.  Need them to wear in the evening)
    -  Long sleeved t-shirt (for evening.  Long sleeved so I don't have to take a sweatshirt as well)
    -  Zip off Trousers (for evenings)
    -  Waterproof Jacket
    -  Boxer shorts (for evening)

PERSONAL NEEDS

-  Toothbrush
    -  Toothpaste (small tube)
    -  Shower gel (small)
    -  Suncream
    -  Sunglasses

TOOLS/OTHER

-  Puncture repair kit
    -  Spare inner tube
    -  Tools (only the bare minimum required)
    -  Mobile Phone
    -  Camera
    -  Helmet
    -  Maps
    -  Money
    -  Pasta (enough for 1 meal)
           - I kept the pasta in case there was no where to get food when I stopped.  The plan was that if I used it then I would replace it the next day.  As it turned out I did not use it and so the pasta travelled the length of Britain with me.
